Herbs! And not just any herbs! Potted herbs!
I specifically wanted a potted herb garden so that I could attempt to have them year round. A good experiment for 52 weeks. This time next year and we'll see how they're doing. Well, I'll probably throw in a few updates between now and then.
Also started this week: snow and snap peas, sunflowers, mesclun greens, tomatoes, and lavender.
I am one of those people for whom gardening is not an art. I know very little about how to do anything properly, but I love it! I just plant stuff, read about how to care for it and hope I don't kill it. It's fun to see what works and what doesn't. Our garden in Chicago was a huge success. For three years, nearly everything we planted thrived and I think we can do the same here. Now I just have to keep hoping I don't kill everything with water or sunshine. That's how gardening works, right?

omg! i totally concur with you. this is how i do gardening, too! nobody in my immediate family has a real green thumb, or pinky for that matter, but no matter: i still love to try! and i hope everyday when i water them that i am not killing them with love.

Ok, please please enlighten me. What is that green/purple fuzzy herb in the lower left corner of your photos? I have the same on in a mixed pot that someone gave me, but I have yet to identify it!
